An American writer has sued Ubisoft because he believes they have copied ideas from a book he published in 2003. The author wants several million in damages, plus he will stop the release of Assassin's Creed 3
John Beiswenger ga in 2003 published a book titled Link (here it is on Amazon.com, along with a håndfulll negative user reviews from angry gamers). The book is about some scientists who discover that our cells contains the memories of the past and invent a machine that allows people to return to our ancestral memories to relive them. Sure, we must admit that it has some similarities with Animus technology in Assassin's Creed.
According to Eurogamer writer points out that both the book and Ubisoft games have several religious references to Eden, forbidden fruit and Adam and Eve. The book also appears assassins and a general battle between good and evil for control of the invention, according Beiswenger.
John Beiswenger are looking for between 1.05 and 5.25 million in damages from Ubisoft, depending on whether Ubisoft has deliberately stolen his intellectual property rights. In addition, he wants to stop the release of Assassin's Creed 3, which is scheduled to be launched this fall.
